1 Establish the relationship between Ashton and Roman. It is teasing, crude, and a push and pull. A constant fight for dominance. It ends with Ashton thrown into bed by an impatient Rowan, who climbs in over him.
2 To establish a turn in the relationship from flirty rivalry to full-blown sex. The scene ends with, when in the morning, Ashton is summoned by his father, the king.
3 Introduce king Lucien of Werredeus, Ashton's father, and establish Ashton's relationship with him. Alongside exploring the dynamic of Roman as Ashton's knight in formal settings. The scene ends with Lucien advising Ashton to traverse the seas to pay a diplomatic visit to Amadeustria, their neighbouring kingdom.
4 Establish Ashton's character as a dutiful and diplomatic heir. Roman's envy emerges with Ashton's relationship with the heir to Amadeustria, prince Cassian Valcorsa. The fleet reaches Amadeustria safely, as they finish up.
5 Establish Amadeustria as a significant location, and introduce Roman and Ashton to a new setting, peaceful and frivolous compared to the almost Spartan nature of Werredeus. They eventually have to make an audience with the king of Amadeustria and his son, the heir, prince Cassian Valcorsa.
