1 Janna puts the new class through a search-and-rescue drill in the smoke-house. She humiliates a recruit for losing his line. Bemune navigates the maze with a terrifying, calculated efficiency.
2 Janna finds Bemune after hours, degreasing the underside of a Ladder Truck. He does not complain about the grunt work. The light catches the red in his beard as he looks up at her.
3 In the classroom, Janna lectures on fire-spread algorithms. Bemune challenges her math based on the real-world sensor lag he designed in his past life. The competence-porn sparring begins.
4 A training exercise in a pitch-black, smoke-filled maze. Janna is monitoring via thermal. Bemune gets trapped with a panicked Jax. Janna has to guide him out: his sturdy calm is the only thing that keeps them alive.
5 Janna discovers who Bemune really is after a local tech magazine runs a Where-Are-They-Now piece. She realizes the man scrubbing her floors is a Silicon Valley legend. She confronts him at a dive bar.
6 A 24-hour simulation. Forced proximity in the Academy barracks. The Touch-Her-And-You-Die energy peaks when a senior instructor undermines Janna's safety protocols in front of the recruits.
7 A training burn goes wrong. A propane leak causes a flash-over. Janna is trapped in the observation booth. Bemune ignores the Stay-Back order, uses his tech brain to override the gas system, and physically breaks the door down.
8 The adrenaline dump after the fire. They are both in the decontamination area. The first kiss happens in the steam and the silence of the locker room. The Ice Queen and the Probie finally collide.

Chief Miller starts asking questions. Janna has to evaluate Bemune's performance, knowing she is biased. They keep their high-voltage connection secret while working inches apart.
10 Bemune reveals why he really walked away from the tech world: a tragedy involving a building fire where his sensors failed. It makes his sturdiness and his need to be a firefighter visceral.
