The kingdom of Ashara has fallen. Zahra al-Nasir, the last fire-wielder, fights in the final hours of the siege of Al-Safir. She is overwhelmed, captured, and bound with chains that suppress her fire. The chapter follows her through the march in chains — leaving her burning city behind, crossing the border into Davarani territory, and arriving at the imperial capital as a prisoner. No court audience, no prince. Just the raw devastation of loss, the shock of captivity, and the first glimpse of the alien empire that conquered her homeland.
