2 Asterion corners Laria in a dead-end corridor. Instead of killing her, he picks her up by the waist and carries her deep into the center of the maze, depositing her in his den: a massive, torch-lit cavern filled with stolen silks, ancient books, and mountains of gold.
3 Laria realizes Asterion can speak. She proposes a truce: if he keeps the lesser monsters away, she will map the magical leylines keeping him trapped underground.
4 While exploring a dangerous unmapped sector, Laria slips and nearly falls into a gorge. Asterion catches her. They rest by a hot spring, where Laria nervously offers to wash the dried blood from his heavy fur, sparking intense tactile tension.
5 The physical barrier breaks down. Asterion is terrified of crushing her, but Laria initiates contact, tracing his scars and horn rings. He responds with desperate, overwhelming gentleness, treating her like the most precious treasure in his hoard.
6 A pack of feral shadow-dwelling creatures ambushes them in the dark. Asterion goes into a blind, terrifying rage, slaughtering the pack. Covered in blood, he tries to pull away in shame, but Laria forces him to stay.
7 They locate the magical core of the maze. The overwhelming magic and adrenaline shatter their restraint. Asterion presses Laria against the ancient stone altar in a primal, deeply vocal claiming fueled by centuries of pent-up desire.
8 Exhausted but fiercely bonded, Laria solves the labyrinth's puzzle. The massive enchanted stone doors leading back to the surface grind open, revealing blinding light for the first time in centuries.
9 The open doors are a trap. The King's royal guard waits on the other side with crossbows, intending to kill the beast now that the seal is broken. They order Laria to step aside.
10 Laria refuses to step aside. She pulls the iron lever that controls the gates, shattering the mechanism. The doors slam shut forever, sealing her inside. She turns back to the dark, choosing to rule as the Minotaur's queen.
